Capstone Project
Personal Bio:
I first showed interest in art in elementary school. I used paint and pencils a lot in elementary school. I liked drawing the best when I was little. In high school, I have done jewelry and fiber arts, drawing and painting, and ceramics. My favorite way to make art is drawing. I like to draw characters and animals. My art style is pretty and nature. I like to do cartoons and realistic drawings. I would like to learn how to do more realistic art.
The Process:
First I planned out my drawing. I originally was going to do a mountain design but I changed my idea because I wanted to make a horse instead. I changed to a horse because I really like horses. Then I weged my clay to prep it. I used a template to cut the base out. I rolled coils and slip and scored them together. Then I smoothed it out. I added two handles on the side and scored and slip them on. I rolled out a piece of clay and cut the horse out. Then I added detail by caring and I scored and slip it onto the vase. It had to dry out to be fired. Then I added beautiful colors to it.
Connecting the Capstone:
My project is about horses and nature. I love horses so much because my parents used to live on a ranch in Mexico. Making this project helped me connect to that part of my culture. I want viewers to see how beautiful wild horses are and make them think about where horses are from.
Art Classes and the Future:
My art classes have taught me how to make different values like light to dark, how to mix colors, and how to plan. Learning different values and how to mix colors will help me with drawings in the future. Learning how to plan will help me brainstorm in the future. After high school, I want to be zookeeper or a veterinarian because of my love for animals. My art classes have taught me how to plan and this will help in any career that I choose.
Future Changes:
I would add more glazes to it just to make the background a solid color.
